Belonging: A Celebration in Song
The Amelia Classical Music Series, in collaboration with the Town of West Hartford, presents America 250: Belonging — A Celebration in Song, as part of the Town’s 250th anniversary commemoration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Founded in West Hartford by immigrant soprano and Artistic Director Zhanna Alkhazova, ACMS presents an evening honoring heritage, inclusivity, resilience, and community.

Featuring an all-female ensemble of acclaimed vocalists — Meredith Hansen (Metropolitan Opera), Madison Marie McIntosh (Florida Grand Opera), and Zhanna Alkhazova (Carnegie Hall, Sarasota Opera) — the program interweaves beloved arias by Puccini and Verdi with American songs that reflect immigrant journeys and underrepresented voices.
Together, these works explore the many paths that lead individuals to call a place home, while resonating with the enduring ideals at the heart of the nation’s founding.
